  • What are the Online Science sessions?
Little Scientists offer online sessions for small groups, on-demand, where we cover Cloud Science, Acids and Bases, and Endothermic Reactions. The Teacher's sessions are designed to help teachers make science more fun in Pre-Schools and Primary Schools. The Children's sessions are designed to spark curiousity and encourage an interest in all things science. Contact us to discuss how we can customise the content to suit your needs.
  • Tell me about the School Holiday Science programme?
Little Scientists run school holiday programmes that focus on making science fun! Our programme is held at the Hillsborough Playcentre during the school holidays, Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 3.00pm. It is a good idea to arrive on time as we usually get straight into things and we don't want anyone to miss something exciting!
  • How much is each Holiday Programme Session?
A sessions costs $60.00 (incl. GST) per child.
  • Do you offer before and after-programme care?
Yes, we now offer care in conjunction with our 9am - 3pm programme. Before Care is from 8am - 9am and After Care is from 3pm - 4pm. The cost per one hour Care Session is $11.50 (incl. GST) per child.
  • Is lunch included in the School Holiday Programmes?
Children need to bring their own healthy lunch. We all sit together for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
  • How many teachers do you have at the Holiday Programmes?
Our adult:child ratio is 1:10. All our facilitators are passionate about Science and bring lots of interesting and diverse skills to our programme. Our programme is closely connected to NZ Playcentre and their philosophy around learning through play. Each session is set up to enable student-centered experiential learning supported by our Facilitators and we always have enough equipment for each child to be able to work together at the same time.
  • What do children do at Little Scientists School Holiday Programmes?
Little Scientists offer a wide range of age-based science activities, such as propulsion with rockets, acids and bases, electronics, weather, crystals, space, food science, magnets, bubbles…the list goes on! If your child has a particular interest, we are happy to try and incorporate this into one of our science sessions, so please let us know. We have a big focus on working together as a team. This is carried over into free time too, when we encourage children to help each other out, be inclusive and be aware of each other. Working as a team does not mean working together at all times; we acknowledge some children prefer to work alone or in small groups, so our style of teamwork means being aware of your group, helping out and being kind. We have recently partnered with House of Science, which is a Charitable Trust that is passionate about inspiring young New Zealanders' interest in science through tangible learning experiences.
